DaShawn Hickman, MD, PhD

DaShawn Hickman is fromColumbia, South Carolina and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Yale University. He graduated from the Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD), at Case Western Reserve University then completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA and an Emergency Medicine Healthcare and Quality Improvement Fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He serves as Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Emanuel Medical Center and as a Physician organizer for Doctors United. He also serves as a Board member for the Andrew Levitt Center for Social Emergency Medicine. His long-term goal is to use his training as an emergency medicine physician-scientist and social activist to lead a healthcare system aimed at eliminating health disparities.
